Did you know that the Heritage Tree Logo features a silhouette of the Tembusu tree? The most iconic specimen can be found on Singapore's $5 Portrait Series banknote and that very tree is itself a Heritage Tree (HT 2001-26), located at Lawn E of the Singapore Botanic Gardens!

Heritage Trees "Record Breakers"

Oldest Heritage Tree

The Sindora × changiensis (HT 2003-115) is the oldest known Heritage tree in Singapore. Through carbon dating, it is estimated to be at least 226 years old (Choo et al, 2022)! Aerial photographs taken around 1946 show this mature tree growing as part of a remnant rainforest patch on the grounds of the bungalow at Cranwell Road, Changi.

Tallest Heritage Tree

The tallest Heritage Tree is the Red Dhup or Parishia insignis (HT 2013-208), which measures a whopping 47.6 m tall! That's almost the height of a 15-storey building! Visit this tree at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, along the South View Path.

Heritage Tree with Largest Girth

With a girth (or trunk circumference) measuring 11.9 m, the Kapok or Ceiba pentandra (HT 2007-152) behind the Tiger Enclosure at the Singapore Zoological Gardens has the largest girth among all single-trunked Heritage Trees!

First Heritage Tree Registered

The first Heritage Tree to be registered is the Kapok or Ceiba pentandra (HT 2001-01) at the traffic island of Toa Payoh North Flyover, Braddell Road. It was one of the 34 Heritage Trees registered within that year!

Most Represented Species

The most represented species in the Heritage Tree Register is the Rain Tree or Samanea saman, with a total of 35 representatives! The highest concentration of this species can be found along Connaught Drive, where 19 Heritage Rain Trees make up the largest number of Heritage Trees endorsed in a single avenue!
