First written record in the Gardens was Superintendent N. Cantley's list of plants, dated 1882. A remnant of the Conifer collection that once dominated an area at the current Tanglin Core of the Gardens. The Gardens herbarium has specimens of conifers from across the Tanglin Core area. The lack of locality data on these specimens makes it difficult to verify whether the specimens were from these trees.
