Trees of the Myristicaceae (Nutmeg Family) produces male flowers on one individual and female flowers on another individual (dioecious). This Heritage Tree Pianggu is a male tree, and thus will not fruit. The Pianggu is critically endangered in Singapore.

One of the few remnant plants from former Gardens' Director, J.F. Sinclair's Myristicaceae plot. This plot was used in his review of the family, published in Gardens Bulletin. The tree is a characteristic plant of freshwater swamp forest. Sinclair was an expert on plants from the Myristicaceae.
