Syzygium syzygioides can be found together with the more common Syzygium grande along the borders of sandy and rocky coasts. Both species are commonly found in Changi and can reach a height of 30 m. The Malay name, Kelat Hitam, refers to the berry-like fruits that turn black upon ripening.
This Heritage Tree had a girth of 2.8m when measured in Year 2003.
