The Petai Kerayong is a large forest tree growing up to 50 metres tall and is found from Northeast India to Java. It has a stout smooth trunk with large buttresses supporting an umbrella-shaped crown. The compound leaves are feather-like with small narrow leaflets and its intriguing flowers are closely set on a round head with a long stalk, which develop into moderately long fruit pods.

Mount Faber was one of the Telok Blangah hills and named after Captain Faber, who laid a road through the hill in 1845. It was made a park in 1970, preserving with it this Petai Kerayong tree.
